Philosophy

With us the clocks tick slower...
With us, managers take a break from the daily grind, follow their own rhythm, and enjoy a healthy breakfast in their pyjamas at 3 p.m.
With us, children get up early in the morning with the first cockcrow and help feed the animals while their parents can sleep longer in the morning.
With us, families enjoy the breathtaking surroundings, take a ride with well-behaved horses through Europe's highest larch high plateau and go to bed fully satisfied - instead of watching TV.
With us, nature lovers from the city seek inspiration in the impressive scenery of the Salto plateau.
With us, singles jog to the church of San Giacomo of Lavenna/Langfenn, take an e-bike ride to the alpine pasture "Jenesiener Jöchl" and meet new friends.
With us, seniors enjoy a pleasant carriage ride, breathe in the pure, fresh mountain air, have breakfast as they please, soak up sun rays to their heart's delight, pamper their palates with excellent cuisine and appreciate the genuine hospitality of the Höller family and the guesthouse team.

Our cuisine.

Regional & homemade specialities at the guesthouse Edelweiss
The fabulous simplicity of our traditional kitchen… Ewald and Kevin love the South Tyrolean cuisine: dumplings, Kaiserschmarrn, barley soup, Costine del Castel Porco (spare ribs) - and many other treats they cook as a team!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! That's why at the guesthouse & horse farm Edelweiss you can expect a rich and vital breakfast buffet, served in our cosy dining room. Homemade jams and cakes, freshly baked bread from the local bakery, cold cuts, South Tyrolean alpine butter, creamy yoghurt and crunchy muesli. And a cup of Italian coffee or South Tyrolean herbal te, of course. We value territoriality – that’s why all our products and ingredients are either homemade or supplied by local farmers.

On request, we prepare simple and/or cold dishes for lunch.

In the evening, Kevin prepares a tasty menu based on Alpine-Mediterranean meals selected from our "CULINA MEA" menu.

Gluten-free dishes? No problem - with prior notice. A vegetarian main course? You will find it on the menu every day. Food intolerances? We are happy to meet your needs.

Enjoy your meal!

Saddle up, mount and set off!

The greatest happiness on Earth is sitting in the saddle of a horse
Friedrich von Bodenstedt
Where the horizon touches wide meadows, the sun's rays enchant the highest larch forest in Europe as well as the impressive panorama of the Dolomites and the Texel Group - here you'll find pleasure and freedom. On horseback, trotting or galloping, you can explore our beautiful surroundings. After feeding and grooming the horses, the riding adventure begins! Whether you are already firmly in the saddle or riding for the first time - we have the right programme for every level. Step by step Petra, our riding instructor, will teach you how to ride or improve your technique.

Enjoying the unique landscape of the Salto with view of the Sciliar, Catinaccio and the Latemar mountains on a horse-drawn carriage ride is not only beautiful, but also a lot of fun. Our horse and carriage expert Norbert will bring the old legends of the area back to life with fascinating stories. Of course, a stop in a rustic alpine hut cannot be missed!

Ready to gallop through San Genesio?
Here we go!

Hiking, cycling, horse riding...

Mountain adventures in San Genesio on the Monzoccolo ridge
What could be better than a regenerating hike to discover the legendary “Rocky Men” (Stoanerne Mandln)? Or how about cycling on your e-bike along the Salto, Europe's highest larch plateau? Or perhaps you'd prefer a horseback ride through South Tyrol's impressive natural landscapes? The Salto high plateau is the ideal destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts.

Hiking

Experience the four seasons of the Salto high plateau with all your senses...
Spring: days are getting longer, you can feel the first warm rays of the sun on your skin and hear the birds chirping ...
Summer: colourful ocean of flowers, buzzing bees, the smell of freshly mown grass, the alpenglow at the Catinaccio and refreshing evenings ...
Autumn: golden days, brightly coloured larches, blue skies, lush meadows and the sweet taste of freshly harvested crops ...
Winter: glittering snow, pure mountain air, hot drinks in rustic mountain inns, horses that tirelessly drag carriages through the snow ...
Right on the doorstep, the sunny Salto high plateau is waiting to be discovered. Our guesthouse on the Monzoccolo mountain ridge is the ideal starting point for hikers and nature lovers 365 days a year. From pleasant panoramic walks to challenging hikes and adventurous summit tours - there is something for everyone in San Genesio and surroundings! Don’t miss the Legend Trail, to the Stone cairns (Stoanerne Mandln), the Earth Pyramids and to the church of St. Jacob (St. Jakob auf Langfenn). Our guesthouse with horse farm is located along the popular European long-distance hiking trail E5 that leads from the Atlantic coast in France to Verona (IT). The highlight is the crossing of the Alps from Oberstorf to the Adriatic coast. Adrenaline junkies can conquer the 2,581m Ifinger Peak or take the new via ferrata dedicated to 'Heini Holzer', the father of extreme adventures. For refreshments, we recommend to enjoy one or more South Tyrolean delicacies during a vitalising break in one of the many mountain huts in the area.

Cycling

Cycling on two wheels on the Salto plateau - that's freedom! In spring, the meadows turn into a sea of crocuses, in summer the hills rise up to the blue sky, and in autumn the blazing yellow of the larches emphasises the splendour of the Dolomites and the Ortles Alps. E-bikers and mountain bikers can test their skills riding through hills and valleys to the Monzoccolo, the Stone cairns and Merano 2000. Beginners or those who prefer to take it easy have the possibility to reach Bolzano and then continue on the Bolzano-Merano cycle path, reach Bressanone, Lake Caldaro or Lake Garda. To return to San Genesio, you can easily take the cable car. Ewald, your host, is looking forward to taking you on an exciting e-bike tour on the Monzoccolo to effortlessly visit the most beautiful places on the Salto and surroundings. For a relaxing pit stop we recommend a rustic alpine hut in the area. And if you don't have your own bike with you, you can borrow one of ours.
Are you ready? Here we go!

Motorbike
